Global Warming Lies! (July 19/08)

 
"The Scotsman" newspaper has this week allowed a contentious article about "global warming" but so far has not allowed many people to disagree.
After reading Jenny Haworth's article on Dr Justin Kenrick, who wants CO2 rationing, I responded with a long letter.
I see that on Friday 18 July two very short letters were allowed disagreeing with him.
A total of 76 words against a full page with photos.
I feel that the Scotsman should be printing more anti-global warming truths.
Today Fran Loots, on page 21, is allowed to make the statement that "A combination of sea rises and increased storm surges could have a devastating impact on Scotland's low-lying coastal areas".
Al Gore was scaremongering when he said sea levels would rise 24 metres with a six-metre rise this century.
Since 1992 satellites have measures sea levels and the global sea levels have not increased.
Even the UN climate panel estimated 30cm and this is how much the sea rose over the past 150 years.
It would appear that the Scotsman is force-feeding its readers with vastly over-hyped scare stories.
Perhaps you should try to balance this issue by allowing articles from others (eg David Bellamy) stating opposing views.
The letter I wrote, on 15 July was as below.
 
Jenny Haworth reported (Scotsman 15 July) that Dr Justin Kenrick, a social anthropologist at Glasgow University, is demanding carbon-rationing cards in Scotland within the year.
He wants Scotland to become a zero-carbon society. What a lot of drivel. Does he believe that Scotland will save the planet?? Scotland is responsible for only 0.2 per cent of the World's CO2. Did I miss it when a huge dome was erected over Scotland so we could keep our CO2 savings to ourselves?? It will not make the slightest difference to world CO2 especially when China is completing 2/3 coal-fired power stations a week to grow their economy. India with a population of 1027 million is rapidly growing its economy and industries.
Not a word in the article about population control, which is the greatest polluter.

The scientists who support the global warming theory are either employed by the governments or are dependent on them for grants but other unaligned scientists are now openly challenging this theory.

A volcano in Alaska's Aleutian chain erupted on 12 July and this gives out more harmful gases that the cows that Dr Kenrick wants to cull. If flying is banned then kiss goodbye to our tourism and signs saying, "tourists not welcome" should be prominently displayed.
Those who rely on tourists would not be able to pay the mortgage. Our economy would go into freefall (it is going that way now), and there would be no money to pay council tax
The only good news is that MSPs and councillors would not be needed in a community orientated society. Perhaps we could employ them as gardeners. To think that the taxpayer is paying this man's salary for such a ridiculous report is criminal. I can imagine the response Dr Kenrick would get from China and India.
We should consign his report to the shredder. Our "green" MSPs, the majority of whom have no common sense, refuse to believe anything contrary to their ingrained opinions.
Windfarms have been discredited because they need huge taxpayers' subsidies and back up power on standby. Now biofuels are discredited because they emit more CO2 than they save and will leave 100 millions starving.
